Every ring is forged to the size you order, so this is the one thing worth getting right before you buy. Five minutes here saves a remake later.
The short version
Three things account for almost every sizing mistake we see.
- Measure a ring you already wear
- On the same finger. By far the most reliable method, and it takes a minute.
- Measure at the end of the day
- When your hands are warmest. Fingers change by half a size between morning and evening, and more in cold weather.
- Remember that wide bands fit tighter
- Ordering 8 mm or wider? Go up a quarter to a half size from your normal fit.
How to measure
Two methods. The first is more accurate; the second needs nothing but paper.
Measure a ring you own
Take a ring that fits the correct finger and measure the inside diameter across the widest point, in millimetres, with a ruler or callipers. Match that number to the chart below. If it falls between two sizes, round up.
Measure the finger itself
Wrap a strip of paper or non-stretch string around the base of the finger. Mark where it overlaps, lay it flat, and measure the length in millimetres. That is your circumference. Find it in the chart.
Two things go wrong with this method. Do not use a stretchy material, and do not pull it tight: it should sit snug but slide over the knuckle without a fight. If your knuckle is noticeably larger than the base of your finger, measure both and choose something between the two, because a ring has to pass the knuckle to get on.
Printable sizers are only accurate if the page prints at exactly 100% scale, which it often does not. If you use one, check it against a ruler first. A cheap plastic ring sizer set is a better investment than a remake.

Why width changes the size
A 3 mm band touches a narrow strip of your finger. An 8 mm band covers three times as much.
A wide band cannot flex around the knuckle the same way, so the same nominal size feels tighter on the way on and tighter once it is there.

Quarter sizes, and if it still does not fit
The dropdown stops at half sizes. The forge does not.
The size selector covers US 4 to 16 in half steps because that is what fits in a dropdown. We can forge quarter sizes and sizes below US 4, and those go through a custom order. Message us with the size and the piece you want and we will set it up.
If it still does not fit
A forged band cannot be stretched or compressed the way a cast one sometimes can, so a resize is not possible and a new ring has to be made. If we sent the wrong size, the replacement and the shipping are on us. If the wrong size was ordered, we remake it at half the original price and you cover shipping. Full terms in the refund policy.
Which is the long way of saying: ask us before you order. Tell us the piece, the width and your usual size, and we will tell you what to buy. It costs nothing, and it is the whole problem avoided.
